Write a DFW trades job post that gets hires
Big boards bury DFW employers in generic "entry-level trade" advice. Craigslist and local aggregators are listing dumps with no playbook. Use this checklist to write a post that pulls licensed, ready techs.
What competitors leave out
ZipRecruiter's public "hire an entry-level trade" guide talks OSHA 10 and soft skills but never walks a Texas employer through TDLR or TSBPE license lookups, DFW city contractor registration, or how to write flat-rate vs hourly pay so applicants trust you. Craigslist Dallas skilled-trades is a wall of ads—many with blank pay—and no employer guidance at all.

The post template that works in DFW
- Role + city in the title. "Residential HVAC service tech – Fort Worth" beats "Technician needed ASAP."
- Pay range on line one. Hourly range, flat-rate explanation, or commission formula. Texas does not require it—showing it is how you win.
- License must-haves. EPA 608, TDLR ACR registration, journeyman electrician, TSBPE plumber apprentice/tradesman/journeyman. Link what you will verify.
- Van, tools, fuel, phone. Say what you provide. Techs screen on this before they call.
- Schedule and on-call. Days, Saturday rotation, how on-call is paid.
- How to apply in one step. Name, phone, short note. Skip the five-page ATS if you want speed.
- Reply promise. "We reply to every applicant within 48 hours" raises trust and your response-rate reputation.
Verify licenses before the offer
- Electricians and HVAC/ACR: look up the person or company on the TDLR license search. Confirm active status and the right license class.
- Plumbers: check the Responsible Master Plumber and individual credentials with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners.
- City registration: Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano and other DFW cities often require contractor registration before permits—separate from the state license.
What good applicants want to see
- A real wage or clear pay plan (not "DOE").
- Whether the role is W-2 or 1099.
- Training, EPA or TDLR fees you will cover.
- A human to text or call, not a black-hole inbox.

Do I have to post a wage in Texas?
No state law requires it, but ads that hide pay get weaker applicants. Showing a range filters tire-kickers and attracts techs who already know their number.
Which licenses should I verify before an offer?
Electricians and ACR/HVAC through TDLR's license search; plumbers through the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Confirm the name and status match the applicant.
